GP ILEA Cook Along - Honey Garlic Chicken

ILEA GP is getting geared up for a fun summer cook-a-long! Join us on Wednesday, June 3rd while we all join in to prepare the same meal together from home! 

Main dish is below along with what to come prepared with to join in the culinary fun! The recipe is designed to serve two with some left overs, but feel free to adjust based on your needs - the chicken will take approximately 20 minutes to prepare. Suggest sides include rice, roasted broccoli or potatoes, grilled seasonal vegetables or salad - this is a light versatile dish that pairs well with many seasonal sides so feel free to get creative!


Honey Garlic Chicken, Serves 2 (with leftovers)
Prep Time - 10 minutes
Cook Time - 10 minutes 

1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast (or thigh)
Salt & Pepper to taste
1/4 Cup Flour 
3 + 1 Tbsp Butter, divided 
2 Garlic Cloves, Minced
1 Tbsp Soy Sauce 
1.5 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar (or White Vinegar)
1/3 Cup Honey (or Maple Syrup)

1. Cut chicken breasts in half to make 2 even pieces - if using thighs skip this step, season with salt and pepper
2. Place flour in a shallow dish and coat chicken evenly on both sides
4. Melt 3 tbsp butter in skillet on high heat, sear chicken on both sides until golden brown (about 3-5 minutes)
5. Turn heat down to medium, add garlic and remaining tbsp of butter to pan, once butter is melted stir to combine with garlic (about 1 minute)
6. Add remaining ingredients to pan, stir/shake pan to combine 
7. Bring sauce to a simmer and allow to thicken over heat (about 1-2 minutes) 
8. Turn chicken over in pan to coat in sauce, serve warm immediately
